Friday.
We got up at 7:30. Mo & Bill drove us to the train station in Preston. For 2.88 pounds we got tickets to Central Station, Liverpool. Maureen Hennessy met us at the station at 10:00 (40 minute trip; dirty train & view)
Maureen showed us all around downtown. We saw Lewis's department store with its statue of a naked man. We sent to Mathew Street (the site of the Cavern), saw several Beatle memorials. We had coffee and scone in that area.
Next, Maureen took us down to the dock area. The Albert Dock has been renovated into a museum. Lunch was in a fast food area in the dock. We went for a ride on the ferry "cross the Mersey". Mo drove us by the Anglican cathedral. We stopped and went in the R.C. Cathedral. The two are quite close & connected by Hope Street.
Maureen is a die hard Everton supporter. So, we went fairly close to the Liverpool stadium.
She showed us an old (13th century) section of Liverpool; Went Derby Village: Grenfell Road (Gwen & Dave, Kittie et al.); Mary Help of Christians (now called St. John Boscombe); St Mathews Church
We stopped at Mrs. Hennesey & saw Mo's sister (Pat) & brother. Then we went to her place, out for supper & back to the bus. En route we travelled both Mersey tunnels.
The bus dropped us at the Cock & Bottle in Tarleton. Dave (Karen's husband) picked us up because Bill was unreachable at the local pub.
Today, Saturday, Bill & I are going to a football game. Cathy, Emily, Mo & Suzanne are going shopping.
Trip to England and France

Sunday, August 29 10:30 a.m.
Thursday after supper Bill lent us his car and Cathy & I went to Southport. There were so many differences in driving that Cathy handled the right-of-way & direction and I steered the car.
We walked a bit about Southport. Everything was closed but the scenery was interesting. We passed by a Pizza Hut.

Thursday, August 27, 5:36 p.m.
On Tuesday we went to the airport at 2 p.m. to check our bags & get our seats. Then, we went home and had pizza for supper. Emily loves pizza. But she scrapes all the topping off and leaves the crust.
After supper, Emily and I went to the park. Mummy went for a walk and met us at the park. Emily likes going down the slide on her "pummy" and she likes the swings. Her favourite pastime is pushing the stroller around the gravel parking area.
After the park, we had a shower (bath for Emily) and waited for the limo to take us to the airport. He was 10 minutes late, arriving at 9:10, but we made it to the terminal by 9:45.
All the way to the airport, Emily repeated "Me, Bill, plane, Stuart, Bames" (James) over and over.
The plane was a DC 8. The stewardesses both told us that Emily was a doll and so good. Emily only slept for an hour on the plane. We had a stopover at Birmingham. She was a bit cranky by then. Mo & Bill met us in Manchester.
Cathy & I went with Bill into Preston, shopping, on Wednesday afternoon.
Emily got so tired, she couldn't eat supper. All she could do by 7 p.m. was cry. So, when we got her calm, she went straight to sleep. Cathy followed shortly after 8.
I sat up with Bill & Mo discussing plans for the trip and sampling brandy (Fundador brandy) and British bitters. I went to bed at 10:30.
About 1:30 I was awakened by Emily's cries. Cathy was up with her. I went back to bed. Emily and Cathy were up a couple of hours. Emily ate some cottage cheese & something (else) & then she came into bed with us.
We all got up about 10 this morning.
Cathy called Maureen (her friend Miekle). We goto Liverpool tomorrow by train to spend a day with her.
When Emily had her nap, Cathy & I went to Ruffort Old Hall. Bill dropped us off on his way to physical therapy. He was in a a bad biking accident in France a few weeks before.
Mo is preparing supper and Cathy is changing Emily at the moment.
